Do you have a Christmas tree tradition? In our family, we go out on December 1st and select a Christmas tree for our home from the Christmas tree farm. We all separate out, and find the tree we like. Then we have the job of trying to ‘sell’ our tree and its benefits to the rest of the family which leads to some really hilarious speeches. Now that the children are older and leaving home, we have had extra friends and relatives join in, and they really get into the spirit of the day.
I’ve made a card using the larger of the two Christmas trees on the Emmanuel stamp set today. selected a rainbow of inks, and stamped the tree twice in each colour. Firstly in full colour, then repeat stamping without re-inking the stamp to get the shadowy paler tree. I stamped the lighter trees a little higher on the card so they would look like they were more in the background.
The sentiment is one from my stash. Once I stamped that in black, I mounted the card onto a dark grey card to give the picture a frame.
I love the soft look of this stamp, and the way that the double stamping gives dimension to the scene. I hope that you are inspired to create your own little scene, either on a card or in your journaling.
Until next time, may you share the excitement of the coming Christmas as we get ready to throw a big party for Jesus’ birth.
